China Lake Conference Center
Mission Statement

Welcome to China Lake Conference Center!  We trust you will experience the warmth of our hospitality from your first contact with us until long after your visit.  China Lake Conference Center is a year-round facility that is owned and operated by the American Baptist Churches of Maine.  Our goal is to make its resources available to church groups & other organizations based upon fair and reasonable rental process that meets the needs of our guests and maximizes use of the center.

The Conference Center was purchased by the United Baptist Convention of Maine in the fall of 1961.  By the spring of 1965 Reverend Sterlin Helmer had been called to a position of Program Director.  In 1968 the Center moved forward with plans to construct the Pendleton Building which was built in memory of Dr. John S. Pendleton.

Over the years the Dillon Center was added to the campus, the Meeting House and numerous renovations completed and finally in 2003 the Sukeforth New Life Center was constructed.  China Lake Conference Center today represents the results of years of vision, dedication, generosity, perseverance and prayer on the part of thousands of faithful Christians who year by year have taken these plans and made them a reality.

It is these individuals and churches who support the Conference Center in its mission of: Called by God to be an integral part of the mission of the church of Jesus Christ, China Lake Conference Center is owned and operated by American Baptist Churches of Maine as a place where all people are encourage to "grow in godliness" through personal belief in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord within a context of caring relationships with others.  The setting and resources of the Center are to be shared in Christian hospitality for spiritual, relational, and educational purposes which are not inconsistent with the objectives of the American Baptist Churches of Maine.
